Checking and Maintaining Concrete Surfaces
- Once a year examine all concrete sidewalks, patios, porches and garage slabs for cracks, chipping, stains, scaling or settlement.
- Concrete contracts and expands with changes in moisture content and temperature.
- Cracks rarely affect structural integrity and do not lead to progressive deterioration.
- Consult your local hardware store for products that can fill and repair cracks and chipping, or remove scaling residue.
- Seal and caulk any large gaps created by minor settlement.
